I Have A Question?

I am finally about to recieve my first Luftwaffe helmet. It is an M40 model.
It was missing the helmet string and chinstrap. I was able to find an original string. I have purchased an original chinstrap for it as well. Was it uncommon for an M40 helmet to have a chinstrap that was made in 1942 or 1943? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Shawn; Preferable the same year is the best. But the condition of you helmet will sometime dictate the strap. it is common to see all dates on all different type helmets. Got lots of them that dont match and wouldnt change them for nothing. Hope this helps. And of course this is all IMO. Jerry
