I'm interpreting the lettering etc on this insignia as dark blue rather than light blue?

Looks fine to me, somewhat common to find this style of shell issued to RLB use.

I'd assumed (that word) that M34 & M40 beaded would be the norm for RLB, what's the usual colour please? This one appears to be an earth or khaki colour?

I have seen light and medium greens as the most common, though helmets in gray, blue-gray, and black are out there as well. Do you have the helmet yet/or held it?, looking at the pic's and sorting through the lighting effects, this appears to be more of a light to medium green finish, at least as seen on my screen.Don

Helmet's not arrived yet, but it may very well be a shade of green rather than khaki, the photos aren't distinct, the decal looks okay to me although the blue appears a little light in the photos.

                  Leigh,

It may just be the flash that's making it look lighter, there is one very bad repro RLB decal out there that actually has very light blue graphics, but the layout is so bad that it can be seen as to what it is very easily. Despite the poor image quality, your prospective helmet does not appear to have that decal applied, and the wear/aging appears right in line with the overall helmet condition. Please post pic's when you get it, I still like it.
