Reichsarbeitsdienst R.A.D Helmet opinions

Hello all,

Well, recently I have been adding to my WW2 ordnance collection and when doing a deal the seller had a German R.A.D Helmet for sale at a good price and thought I would take a gamble on it.!!

I have only seen a few like this before and I when I questioned the seller about the authenticity he stated that he has had it in his collection longer than I have been alive and back then they didnt fake these items. Huummmm! (he was in his later 80's and i am 41)

It is maker marked - NS64 and I have seen them mentioned here: http://quanonline.com/military/milit...lmets/radh.php

Now if possible I would be VERY grateful if I could have your opinions on it and a possible value?

Both decals is fake, and the RAD decal is also a fantasy version...

Aaah helmets at a good price , can count them on one hand in almost 20 years of collecting.
Definitely a fake one that one.

I agree with the other assessments. The Nat'l colors decal is a copy and the RAD decal is a post war fantasy decal. Helmets having this decal do appear occasionally. I have an M34 that I acquired in the early 70's which has that same decal[RAD] applied and materials of construction differ from true period decals. I have also seen this decal marketed on a sheet of various organization repro water slide decals (Army/ss/party shield/Nat'l colors/round RAD), so they are around.

Ohhh plop. I thought it was too good to be true this one.
Think I will stick to my ordnance collecting until I do a bit more research.
Is this helmet worth anything even with the post ww2 decals. Meaning is the helmet and liner original ?

As a rule of thumb if you see an eagle and swastika stamp on a liner you know the helmet is going to be crap . Rob
