    No goggles / stupid look...

    Really ?

The same as for the auction : a question of taste...

Excellent!! I love it when a plan comes together.

Hmmm, parade wear vs. actual field wear..... hopefully I will have some rear left over.

For Ricardo... This kind of helmet was in use in Kreta (and in continental Europe too of course) :

Studio portrait and parade order aside which negates the function of the goggles do you have field use photos? Nice images by the way.

They probably used the goggles quite rarely, and having them there on the helmet was surely more practical then having them dangling around the neck, or taking up room in a pocket; even if when they did want to use them they had to take the helmet off like you said. If they were worn like that for parades, they were surely also worn like that in the field. Actualy, just these helmets are rarely seen actualy being worn in the field, so finding pics of them being worn in the field with goggles is probably difficult.

I also think that it was pretty common to wear googles on pith helmets. There are plenty of pics showing italian soldiers wearing googles on their pith helmets and not only for parade (for example by a rest when motorcycling etc.).
                      Cheers
