M-42 Green Paint Opinions Please...

Hello All, I have had this helmet for many years and just recently got it out again to look at it. My question pertains to the green paint, do you think it is original to the helmet? I believe it is, however I would like to hear from some of you (helmets really aren't my thing). Just a side note, the helmet came with a liner however, it began to decay (and smell) so I had to remove it several years ago. It is also stamped but the mark is so faded I am unable to read it. Thank you for your opinions.

Yes Mike, this is IMO a nice original camo paint on top of the factory paint.

Mike did you realy had to take the liner off the helmet?

Did you keep the rivetts and washers ? .Its like having a K98 and throwing the bolt away .However the paint does look like its from ww2 .Rob.

Thank you for your informed opinions. To answer your mutual concerns, I indeed kept the liner, rivetts and washers. I have them in a sealed bag and yes they needed to be removed because the metal underneath the liner was beginning to decay (I have never seen this happen before) and the smell was getting to be bad. My guess is that this helmet liner had been exposed to water for some time prior to me buying it. I was also concerned that the helmet itself may begin to rust, nonetheless as stated brfore I kept everything.
