He didn't even notice the decal partially exposed until he got it outside. The initials in the rim are painted with the same red paint used for the red cross.Comment

Hope it was worth the wait. I took these photos of the helmet sitting on a shelf in my friend's room so I hope they are clear enough.

Hmm. Maybe a vet picked it up on EBay? A vet friend of mine who was in the Battle of the Bulge passed away and when I inquired about any helmets in the estate, I was shown an obvious fake that he probably picked up at a fair in the 1960's, where I remember them being sold.
