You should try getting in touch with the town hall of his location of birth, which should yeald interesting information.
Not sure if you looked up HEINZ or HANS ?

                  Killer helmet
Dead soldier is listed as a sturmmann, not a Rtf.

"Not sure if you looked up HEINZ or HANS ?"

Sorry, my typo. I looked up any Voigt with that date of birth, and none is listed. Concerning the one found by Fred, that may be the same man, but with no date of birth and only an initial, that is really just guessing with a name as common as Voigt.

When there is no date of birth listed on the VDK website, that usualy means that the VDK found a body buried under a cross with those inscriptions, but that they never managed to find out who the soldier actualy was. So they reburied him with the same inscriptions, but not the complete info that is normaly provided.

In this case, sending a letter to the town hall of birth should clarify everything, and also perhaps turn up a photo.

Such a common name. An attribution based on the name, rank and branch in this case is still tentative at best IMO.

That is one of the best SS Q M40 SD helmets I have ever seen. The unquestionable combat "look" and the research behind this helmet really sets it apart from other SS Q M40 SD helmets.

                              Great pick up Dave!!!
