Odd camo M40

Has someone seen before such a strange camo painting like the remainings on this M40? What campaign could it stand for?
It just arrived from Austria today and the former owner messed up the lid by drilling / welding the holes for ventilation and rivets.

Liner could originally belong to the helmet, rivets replaced.
