Leather tongue

Don't know much about german helmets, but how many leather tongues are inside the helmet on the liner? I count usually 8, touch?

8 is the most common but some larger size helmets have 9 as in my size 66 DD Heer

I presume all tongues are the same size no matter what size liner.

Yes, unless you get one like the example shown with 9. That 9th tongue can sometimes be a half sewn folded over.
