John, can you show any closer up pictures of the eagle, on the khaki DD helmet? This is the "medical tape" helmet is it not?
      Cheers.
This is the "medical tape" helmet. Only have an entire left side image on this computer, the arrows denote remnants of tape.

John, it is always a pleasure to see a great helmet such as yours. It is very interesting to see that your example also has a winter camo underneath
        If only it could talk!

Sergey, it is great to see that FJ DAK again! If I recall, it was found in a kit bag in South Africa and was only recently offered for sale. I wish I had the $$ for it! Your pictures are very nice and it is hard to forget this helmet. A great example! It is interesting to point out that the lot number is 5052.

Nzef1940, that is a very nice FJ camo as well. It is tough to say what theater of operations it may have been in, but it certainly is a looker. Things that are interesting to point out are that the lot number of your helmet is 5012 and this one also has a cloth-made loop likely used to hang it from a belt or something similar. I also really like the fact that the pull tab on the chinstrap friction buckle is painted the same camo color. Very nice!

Yes, Walter, you're right about it history / the lot№ is even less than we can found on April-June 42 battlefields in Russia . I have some ground dug helmets with 5073 . So this lot№ also can be found on DAK helmets .
Looking for FJR2 combat pics in Russia.

Fine items indeed chaps. Thanks for posting the eagle side too John, I imagine after very carefully covering the eagle and colours that the soldier was a tad disappointed to find these damaged after the paint had dried!

Wanted to bump this awesome thread to the top to see if there are anymore examples of DAK FJ helmets out there. Some stellar examples here so far.

There have been a couple on the FJ forum on the last month Marc. Tunisian Camo's most likely. Also a couple on the Russ H helmet thread by Mike Davis. I agree this is a great thread!

I was referred to this very informative thread. Here is my latest , looks like a category 1. Two other DAKs I had for a color reference. The mustard yellow had a provenance to Alamein. J

A superb thread with some exceptional helmets!

I might have to add one as well.

Figured I would post my Sturm Rgt helmet, likely worn in Tunisia. From G. Peterson's collection 16 years ago. Was featured in the Baer helmet book.

Wow, simply stunning Willi!! Incredibly rare. Does it have sand mixed into the camo paint?
