Luft Overseas Cap w/ Paper Inside...

Hello guys: I just purchased this Luft hat at a little country auction here in N.C. I'm guessing it is a late war example due to the enlisted eagle...maybe an up-grade in rank? Nice fine wool with a little moth nipping .Before it was put up on the auction block, I found a piece of paper tucked inside it... Can anyone tell me what it says? I've posted 2 pics of the paper because in one you can read the pencil better, in the other the type print is clearer.

    Thanks,

            Hi Skip,

You are correct, the cap has been upgraded. That is not standard officer's cap piping but collar piping which has been carefully added. This type upgrade is common. It is a fine gabardine cap, not the usual issue EM wool type. He was a Staff officer at an airfield.
