    Opinions On Vulkanfiber Helmet Please.

The liner appears to be modern with spurious ink stamp, but would the helmet shell hidden under the silver paint 3R, or post war please?

      Hello Leigh,

It looks like a DDR fireman helmet. Post war and probably used till the Wall came down.

Yes, not vulcanfibre at all, Leigh, but modern fiberglass. I have one out in the garage that I found years ago at a fleamarket. I used to wear it on my
H-D. I painted it gloss black and rigged up a more suitable chinstrap.

Sure would look cool painted double decaled in field grey, black or luft blue as a WH SS or LW parade helmet/cheap filler for a fairly tough helmet to find..and get rid of the nazi inkstamp

Thanks, I'll give it a miss - for 20 euros Id've tried to get the silver paint off & ditched the liner, but it's no good to me if it's post war, ta.

              Leigh,

For your reference, here is what my Third Reich era vulkanfibre helmet looks like inside.

Thanks, the only vulkanfiber I've got is a crested FP, the lining to that is more like an upmarket FP one.

                  Leigh,

That silver painted helmet is completely post war manufacture.

Thanks, I've started off a new thread re a FP "EREL" brass crested vulkan fiber helmet that I have, rather than keep this one open - it's done its job, ta.

                      Hallo Darryl,

As I think you own this black Vulcan fiber helmet could you please maybe give me some idea about the current price for purchasing such a helmet?
                      Thanks in advance, Seth.

                        Hi Seth,

Yes I own this black SS vulkanfibre helmet. It is only the second one I know of...the other being in the collection of Al Barrows. His is a slightly higher quality helmet (these were commercially produced private purchase items) and appears in Kelly Hicks' new "SS Steel" reference book.

As far as pricing goes, I really don't know what it would sell for today and I would rather not speculate for fear of being accused of driving up prices. The best thing to do would be to conatct a reputable dealer and ask how much he would sell one for.

                          Darryl,

I have a 60's era Canadian helmet I would be willing to trade for yours...

Sorry, just trying to drive DOWN the prices.

Thank you for your (modest) answer both Darryl and Chris.
