Need KM helmet advice!

Hi everyone,
Hope you all have a happy collecting 05. I'm a newbie and need advice on purchasing a KM helmet. I am going to the SOS show in Louisville and will be looking for a nice Kriegs helmet. I am studying as much as possible on them now so I don't get taken. I am paying particular attention to the decal by searching on this site. What other things should I look for that are faked? I don't mind spending more for a nice piece but what should I expect to pay for the various types of Kriegs helmets, SD, DD, etc. I am going to stick to helmets that have the "layered or 2 piece decal." This is kind of scary when you don't know what you are doing. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello Colonel 1`the only advice I can give you is dont buy hastily.Before you buy take the time to look at a KM decal next to a toned Heer decal.Compare the two , to me the original KM decal almost looks like the gold is flaking the gold seems to give the effect that it is rising off the surface of the helmet. The toned Heer does not do this ,it looks flat to me more of a patina look.
I have posted a pic of mine with my play school camera my eyes are not what they used to be but i think this one is the thin winged varity hope it helps.

I too really like Navy helmets and have owned a lot of them.

Bring your wallet because a nice Navy helmet is not going to be cheap.
