    Hi Doug,
If I recall correctly one SD was for sale a few years ago at Collector's Guild but you had no interest for it as it was salty.

    BTW Jeremy: Great catch

Mauser this also fits the time period when ET was using exclusively Pocher decals as well, early ET lot number, no evidence of being overdecaled, and I believe this is the original paint, not a reissue.

Fred, yes you are right I forgot about that one. I am still crying it has no liner. Id love to add this to the SS collection otherwise!

Wasn't there a size 60 DD reissue. I believe everything looked original but it was salty I wonder if it is the same helmet mentioned.

I think you are right: It wasn't an SD.

Doug, I'm just commenting on what I see. To me the shell looks brush painted.
You can see the brush marks in the paint.

I'm really not qualified to comment on the decals and as to what type and
              when they were applied.

Early ET's are typically the lightest shade of apple green of all the manufactures.

Also not dening the legitimacy of the helmet. Just saying it may have not left the factory as an SS lid.

I see what you are talking about. I see "horizontal" marks. But I do not think it is brush strokes they are not consistent throughout the exterior of the helmet imo.

A question what is tan color behind the SS runes.

A cool helmet none the less.

Thanks guys for all the feedback so far on this one.

I will have to take a closer look but my impression is that what looks like brush strokes are some kind of wear patterns as you only see them in certain areas, not all over. I also get the impression that the factory paint on the exterior is just very toned. These of course are just my first impressions and I will have to take a closer look at what you have mentioned. I also don't see any traces of decals beneath these; from my experience on re-decaled helmets there is usually clear evidence of a decal beneath the top one or in some instances multiple layers. On the SS rune decal the exposed area is just the decal backing material showing where the pulver has flaked off.

                  -Jeremy

Its clearly been overpainted and doesn't have the typical apple green ET paint and the decals were applied over the overpaint. Its a brush overpaint as the brush stokes are clearly seen.

Most police M35's are re-decaled Heer lids in the very odd size ends of the size spectrum.
Do not agree at all, Pocher decals is one of the earliest decals encountered as a factory application on a ET M35, this one as said early/mid 1936.
The helmet is not re issued, have its original factory paint.
And must ask about your writing above, "Most police M35's are re-decaled Heer lids"
IMO most Police M35's are factory painted with factory applied police decals..

Correct. I think we are thinking of the same one, but just so u know another reissue popped up, as well.

This is also not the only one I've seen with the factory finish. There's one or two more out there to my recollection.

Bryan, come to think if it, Ken Niewiarowicz recently had n interesting DD SS sized 60 for sale on his site. The bearer applied another Pocher under the skirt. Unusual but neat.

Another terrific find Jeremy leather or not, and if it hasn't been said already I believe that Kelly also had a 60 re-issue on his site a year or two back??

Sorry Anders as my wording wasn't correct.. What I meant was that most re decaled Police helmets I have seen were on the ends of the spectrum of size.
Most all are either size 60 or 68. Meaning to fill police contracts ET re decaled the odd size helmets they had surplus of ? Or helmets were shifted to a police contract from heer. It's an observation that's all.
