Hi all, grateful for any comments on this one.

Some are a little soft too, but the best I can get.

                        Nice honest looking M42

with the typical cone shaped '' hkp '' air-vents.

Yeah, or wired, or winter, or medic, or Normandy, etc. Amazing the number of exotic helmets that are appearing "out of the woodwork" isn't it?

Great plain Jane that you'll never have to worry about!

                            Absolutely dead on.
                            Love an unmolested ND M42!

Hi all, thanks for the help on this. It's now on the way from the US to the UK, will probably be held up in UK customs for several days (as ever), but looking forward to seeing it 'in the flesh'. Will post some more pictures when it eventually lands.

I have to thank longtime WAF member "Lionclaws" for this, great guy to deal with. Sent me some pictures of his War Room, he has a lot of nice helmets, and more besides.

He picked this one up in 1988 from a veteran/ collector as part of a large haul of helmets, weapons and daggers in this group:-

"M42 no decal, M35 apple green DD, LW M35 DD, M35 KMT SD (super rare), p-38, G-43 sniper rifle with scope, 1918 artillery lugger with leather holster/wood, LW officer's visor hat, LW officer's dagger, M42 SD SS" - those were the days....

I mainly collect Luftwaffe but convinced myself ( ) that after the Heer took over the Luftwaffe Field Division's in November 1943, and Luftwaffe helmets had already ceased being made shortly after the decal drop in August 1943, that at some point Luftwaffe Field Divisions were probably issued these 'General issue' helmets! The other thing I liked about this particular helmet is that according to Brian Ice's research, this Lot number indicates an early no-decal produced shortly after the August 43 decal drop meaning it might have seen a little more action. As ever, wish it could talk....

Thanks again for all the feedback.

                              Regards, Paul
