i agree. now how does it compare to the one i posted. that one has similarly bright colors which have been deemed unauthentic. i'm just looking for consistency and hope i came to the right place...

could it just be an episode of my favorite show, When Good Camos Go Bad?

I think the other helmet is simply not a one look camo
I wouldn't buy it as I just don't like it, it just does not have any appeal to me but that does not mean it's not real.
The helmet in this thread looks good to me and it has some interesting facets.
        Good luck!

I have bought bright colored ones like this (brighter even) fron vets directly.

Same here and rest assured the Camo on eBay is absolutely original and never restored in any way

I would expect somewhat more paint loss around the damage area

I don't know if the camo paint is authentic or not, but that's exactly what I was thinking.

                      I agree.
Too much paint there. The metal splint should damage much more of the paint...

Not sure why now we have all this ballistic expert that are saying there is to much paint around the damage.I would encourage all 3 to post the camo battle damage they have in there collections to show me what they are talking about. Please post yours and I will post more I have in my collection, if you make a comment like that please back it up with photographic evidence to prove your theory.
Will wait for all 3 to post pictures and if anyone else has a battle damage helmet that lost more paint than mine please post them to

I think it's a fantastic helmet. One of the best battle damaged camos out there.

It's a one looker and I'm amazed it's being criticized. Maybe this is why people are hesitant to post their helmets here.

What I was thinking when I see the damage but when looking at your links posted, I see paint in several of the other battle damage camo helmets, so I was wrong there. I am no expert in battle damage helmets as in my country we mostly find the helmets in mint or so... he-he.
Almost no hard battles in Norway the 5 years the Germans were here.

                              Hello Giorgio,

All I did was express a thought. Never in 45+ years have I ever claimed to be a Ballistics expert. Rest assured, I sure as hell have stayed away from the TR camo minefield since the early 80's... probably should have kept my mouth shut in this case as well. In what part of my short sentence/thought did I say the paint was not authentic?

As you know we live about 30 minutes apart from each other. If you feel inclined to share your expertise and vast knowledge through your battle damaged helmet collection let me know. In turn, I have just over 100 WWI German helmets remaining in my personal collection, with about 10-15 battle damaged... I will do the same with you. Feel free to send me a message.

I did not personally attack you or your helmet, and don't expect it from you.

                              Best Regards,

                              Chuck
