M35 Helmet with metal loop riveted to rear flange????

I recently saw a M35 Helmet with a metal loop riveted to rear flange and I was wondering what this loop was for and if this was used by the Germans during the war or something done post war??

    Thanks,
    Eric

I think this would be a hungarian helmet.

Yes it is a Hungarian. I have several. I'm no expert on Hungarian helmets, but I think that helmet was used post war as well. The loop is to attach helmet to belt. Many had a liner that looks similar to a m-16 full leather liner...It may be the differences in liner that determine post or pre war use...Any other comments on that?

The helmet is Hungarian made but I think your's could possibly have been used by Finland. Most of the Hungarian M35/38 helmets were repainted after the war.

Here is the war time color:

And to answer the original question, the loop was used to hang the helmet on the belt or backpack. The helmet shells were produced in Hungary under license but for some reason this didn't include the license for liner system, hence Hungarian helmets are found with a different liner.

This is a Finnish used helmet that has been repainted a couple of times. Note that the Finns even added a couple of holes for their liner system, which is similar but a little different from the Hungarian system.
