The 'turn-off' might be the rather bright green for a lot of folks....however, that color was embraced!

Matt, I think this helmet is an example of how desirable a "one looker" camo is in comparison to one that needs some scrutiny. I too have seen those colors (particularly the ochre color) on camos that I consider original. Is this one right?...tough to say just from pics. I do know that certain camos leap up and scream "original" and (from the pics) this one doesn't do that...for me anyway. Tough call. If I had received this from a reliable out of the woodwork source, I would add it proudly to my collection. I would never buy it from a dealer, though, without knowing exactly where it came from...If you are comfortable w/ the source I would let it go at that, knowing that resale will be an uphill battle

I really cant see anything wrong with it ,looks like a nice solid 60 year old helmet without any red flags.Rob.

I feel exactly as Robb-maybe the pics show the colour a little bright. I have had a very similiar one but with almost chocolate brown added for good measure.

              Matt,

If anyone knows their camos, it is you, so I would defer to your judgement on this one. I think the key here is the original source of the helmet which you have explained, so it sounds right to me. I have seen the most convincing fakes that are coming out and I can tell you one thing, the fakers (that I am aware of) would not do one like this. I say this because of the color brightness and tone, which we know many German units, particularly Luft. would use. The fakers would more likely use the more subtle, earthy tones that would "look old". They want to sell their helmets quick and would not assume the "risk" a "bright one" like this would present because the first natural reaction is "oh, it's got to be fake!". I hope this makes sense.... Anyway, nice helmet and I hope to see you and the helmet at the SOS.

Get real. There's not a chance in hell that the camo paint on this one is original.

While it seems that Stilson has effectively cast a cold eye upon this paint job, I would, myself reserve judgement.

Sure, it looks a little off-standard but other than the colors used, it seems completely normal and displays typical wear patterns. I have seen many a helmet that was less "standard" but still real.

Matt is no fool, thats for sure. The fact that a collector of his standing believes in the originality of this one means something.

But be honest, if it was up for sale on ebay, everyone would be having a good laugh at it.

                        Hi!

Will not say good or bad only from pics alone, but it looks good on the first glance.

I got a camo helmet with near the same sheme for an hands on inspection last week.
A helmet which a dutch fellow wanted to buy/trade from German guy (member here). My fellow asked me to look the helmet over.

Was not sure from the pics and also with hands on it´s not a helmet style you´ll buy in a second. But IMHO that one was real (for the record: same camo sheme style).

Here a pic from the helmet in question!

                        Cheers

                        Gerd

Well that's a "one stop shop" for all your helmet needs .

It almost looks as if a list of every conceivable style/branch of service/theater has been drawn up and each helmet crossed off as the work was finished.

This guy has been discussed before as i remember?

                            Patrick.

That's pretty scary. Some of them look almost convincing from the photos provided.
