            Marking

            Greetings Bill,

The square inked stamp located within the neck guard is an acceptance/reception stamp representing receipt of the helmet through the War Ministry, Dept. 13, and indicating the supplier source of the helmet (Manfred Weiss), Csepel.

              Ooops!

              Ooopps!!

May have gotten the location wrong, I was looking at one of mine and the notes I researched about it, Bill, your stamp appears to have a different supplier source, possibly "Cilli", if so, that supplier would be A. Westen.

Don, Thank you very much.. When I found this helmet years ago there were 3 of the same type helmet stacked on top of each other, A N.C. Vet. had all three in his garage and I only had $s for one..Thanks again. BILL

                      Hello Bill,
Seems to be a very nice helmet however I have some problems with the chinstrap, looks a bit to new IMO. I will check with mine when back home.

Sorry but I believe that Phil raised a good point. Chinstrap replaced and also two of the three pads dont look to be ok. A legitimate chinstrap on an Austrian WWI helmet should have a different look.

                          Hello,

I checked my austrian M16 and the chinstrap is more like the Paolo's one, the leather is very dark, almost black (due to the age?) and webbing is different. I can't state on the liner mine is poor. I hope it can help.
                          Regards
                          Phil
