The liner is rough and seems to have been treated with something. The strap is marked 1939.

Why couldn't this be 'real camo'?

Pictures are bad but it's the wear patterns that give this helmet away. Without going into detail, they were produced by the same method.

So someone painted it...and then 'aged' it all equally?
