    M1918 SS transitional helmet

I am putting this on here for a friend. This helmet was bright back from Germany by a 93 year old vet who served in the 714th tank battalion. The liner is dated 1943. This is how the vet found it. What are your opinions?

Typical single decal Army reissue with a crude representation of an SS decal painted on the other side to make this a more appealing souvenir. If the vet or his kids really didn't paint that, maybe an enterprising German did to earn a few more cigarettes during the occupation. Not an SS helmet, in my opinion.

Sounds good. Anyone else have any input?

I agree. A mid war reissue Army. Assuming for a moment there would be some need for an SS soldier to wear this helmet, there would be plenty of Pocher decals around to cater to his needs.

Not an SS helmet for me either I'm afraid.

Crude vet art, something hand rendered would be pre-war, pre-35.
