can you help with m35 please

Hi I just been on a weekend away with my girlfriend ... I visited a few antique shops and asked all off them if they had ww2 items ...nothing really ....one did say he had a m36 helmet that has name on liner and white paint traces and few layers of paint that a elderly gentleman brought in he didn't have any other militaria he had taken the helmet home to show his mate to find out more about it ...turns out it was m35 lol ...I explained I would be back in London Monday and he said he doesn't sell online as he wants people to see in hand his antiques ... I persuaded him by phone today to send pics ..he wants £200 ....what do you think cheers Matt

      Hi Matt,
lid looks like a M35 reissue that has been cleaned of most of the reissue paint and its took the decals off aswell,i'd want abit more off the price to want to buy it...plus side nice shell ,nice liner ,nice chin strap by the looks of it.

      Cheers

I'd say it has been reissued...but the repaint was done after being painted whitewash (winter camo?), so later layers have just fallen off About the lack of decal, closer pics would be needed to be able to say something.

Due to single aluminium ring for the liner and brass-nickelwash on the three split rivets I can guees it is an early M35. The liner could be the original to the helmet. Might it not be an export helmet, perhaps from Spanish Civil War? Numbers stamped inside the helmet could clarify this last point and explain the lack of decal.

PS The price sounds very reasonable. I would take it!!!!!!

yeah, but that's not really the point is it,i'd rather wait and put a bit more to it and have a bird to look at,plus come re sale time it would be easier to move it on....People say its not about the money but to alot out there it is

              Cheers

It's an interesting M35 and I see no evidence of post war hanky panky though the pix aren't good.

I like the liner and chinstrap, not sure about the helmet though. Liner and chinstrap are probably worth the asking price. BDM

                            Matt,
I think you'll find that occurred when the helmet lost it reissue paint,a victim of its circumstances I'm afraid...

                            Best Regards

There's lot of period photos where the paint on the pins is all gone , that is one of the things that makes this lid a bit more special , rob
