The black DD RZM-SS helmet with its original three pad liner and chinstrap is indeed rare and to some like my self extreamly desiderable. If one take in consideration that this was a transitional helmet made under contract to the SS in what appears to be small numbers, the fact that is a "property marked" SS-RZM...the only steel helmet with that detail, if one can find it in its original prewar configuration AS issue to the Allg-SS for parade/guard duty..is a big..BIG plus and rarity. Most of these where reissue to other dutys like civil defence, etc....meaning that they where striped of the SS decals, repaint and in most cases the WWI type liner was replaced with a M-31 type....leaving the stamped SS-RZM markings as the only direct connection/use by the SS. Because all the above, that this piece survived in a relatively nice shape and untouched make it even more desiderable in the field of SS helmets...in my very personal opinion of course.
IF I had the money for this level of purchase for the collection....that helmet would have been on my way....I think that if memory serve me well, this particular helmet was also unit marked in one of the liner pads....and also that this came from the fabulous black SS helmet collection of Darryl-P, which was latter sold by BOB-I of Collector to Collector militaria....in fact Bob sold most of the helmets if not all from Darryl-P.
