    SD Heer Rusty

Here is an SD Heer helmet right out of the barn. The decal area is fairly good, but the top and other side has surface rust. Can it be saved, as I am not into helmet restoration or rust removal? The liner and chinstrap are great.

Rub the rusty bits (not the good bits )with a soft rag that should get rid of the surface rustiness the deeper stuff is there to stay . If you were going to sell it I would leave any potential cleaning to the next person .Rob

There is a product called Rust Aid you find it in Walmart or Lowes just spray a bit and clean with a toothbrush results are amazing....(wont hurt original paint)

Perhaps some WD40 oil. Best stuff ever for cleaning rust.

Nice looking lid as it is. I would just use a wet rag to wipe the fresh rust off the shell. It is what it's....... Johnno.
