    Hello Martin,

I was wondering if anyone was going to bring this up. The liner pads are reproduction, and, if we could get good clear close up pictures of the paint it will most likely turn out to be post war applied as well.

To expound a little on the pads themselves... the cut is wrong, the stitching is wrong, material is ?, etc. Attached below are a few pictures of a really nice original M16 liner system.

I'm just curious...what is so obvious that makes the paint job post war? The liner I don't know, other than it appears to be old, very old. Ron.

Does anybody else see the steel liner band behind the thick leather band? Take a close look at picture #5.

I see something. What I am not sure. The seller should provide clear closeups. But whatever it is, from here, the inside assembly looks like it has been there for quite some time. As for the paint, what am I missing?

IMO, the entire helmet was made up to deceive. From those pictures I smell European fake... perhaps from the Baltic region of Northern Europe.

The steel band appears to be from a M17 liner system (picture #5). If that's the case, the M16 liner system was added to this helmet. The liner pads look like Czech reproductions, and do not appear to have been in the helmet very long. Czech made or not, they are not original. I cannot see enough of the thick leather liner band to determine if it's original or not.

Because of the above everything else is suspect, at least to me it is. The wear in the paint around the rim on the inside does not appear normal. Maybe forced? Does the overall wear in the camo paint look natural? Too me, it does not.

Perhaps the seller can provide us with good clear close up pictures of the paint, liner pins inside and out, backside of liner pads, and maybe explain away some of our concerns.
