    M18 with Normandy Camo

    Hello,

I just aquired this yesterday and posted it in the Imperial section but not getting much response. To my inexperienced eye it appears to be a reissue that was repainted in the 40's Thanks for your opinions.

Too me it looks like your assessment is right on I am by no means a camo expert, but I like what I see. I thought I remember seeing an original picture that someone posted here a few years back, of a German soldier wearing a normandy camo M16/17/18? Hopefully someone else will remember and add the picture to your post!

FOR whats its worth I really like it.. Not a helmet I would consider a reissue because the liner wasn't upgraded to the m31 type. Or earlier m27 type. It's a standard m18 liner. I suppose they may have used them over ? Not the norm though. The interior camo work is also not the norm. You can also see the brush applied overpaint under the top spray camo. Not sure what to group it into just call it a double camo !

Great helmet... really like the interior. Do you think the interior paint is WW1 or WW2?

Thanks guys. At first I wasn't quite sure what to make of it as I only have TR headgear. Another collector thought it was used later in WW2 and the liner was in good enough shape to leave alone.

This also came with a WW1 US helmet from the 28th PA Infantry Div. with red keystone painted on the side (below average condition).
