DD Heer M35 - Camo or Not? SE66

    Hey Everyone:

I don't normally mess with German Helmets much anymore unless they come my way from a source I trust, look good and I can afford them. So, today I bought this Double Decal Army helmet from an old homeboy I met some 35 years or so ago in high school.

At first glance I figured it was a reissued M35 as the decals had been painted over and it has a later war zinc liner. Then, I started thinking the two different colors of green may put it in the camo arena.

    What do y'all think?

The brown spots aren't as BROWN in person, the flash really makes them look more obvious than they really are. Nice and large "SE66" , can't see a stamping on the back of the skirt.

    Thanks,

I'm thinking the two shades of green are the results of a winter whitewash added to the top and than removed.....You know for seasonal use.....Bodes

To me it looks like an astringent chemical ran down the sides thus, discoloring it

I agree. Maybe something spilled in a garage or workshop.

Tough call, Skip. Looks like a repainted DD, reissued to a SD and then either had some other paint put over the decals (again) or the reapplied SD was never put on well - Hard to tell from the picks.

Seeing the liner and seeing it as an M35 - certainly it's reissued.

Agree. Repainted, reissued SD and redecaled again without much care.
Repainted finally all over with a very thin coat of green paint. Bad storage and bad care do the rest.
Most a reissued than a camo example IMO.
