how rare are m40 no decals

I know there was lots of m42 late war nd helmets ...was there many m40s no decal ....cheers Matt

Yes, there were tons of factory no decal helmets made by Quist who made M40's up until near the end of the war. The other makers had switched to M42's while the single decal configuration was in effect but Quist kept on cranking them out for some unknown reason. An M42 Quist is a very rare thing

I doubt there are many if any factory M40 ND by other makers. You may find ones that look like ND but the decal may have flaked off, been removed or painted over.

A lot of ND Q's have probably had fake or unissued decals added to them by unscrupulous dealers & collectors.
