    SS DD Thoughts?

Just picked this up with a pile of other stuff that all looks good to me. But my natural default position is fake on most SS stuff. For some reason I was unable to post pictures here to I posted them at http://www.warrelics.eu/forum/ss-hel...16/#post973100. Thanks guys, Doug

Helping out here. Strange but the liner appears to be to an Obergefreiter. Q66 Shell.

Re-issued at best as one owner was an Obergefreiter

Best post in the Helmet section

Its not a Q decal, maybe a Pocher, but looks as though there is or was another decal underneath
The writing in the liner looks a little recent to me

The idea that there is a toned q ss decal under the pocher is possible but begs the question of how long it would take for the decal underneath to tone gold.
Not a factory issue but there does seem to be a match lot number wise for a sd ss helmet if I am reading the lot number right. Doug B is your best bet on the other forum.

Has a good chance IMO though as already pointed out the name inside almosty seems a bit fresh....it was done with a ball point pen, one can see the track from the pen where there is no ink....

The damages on the pocher appear to be period thus allowing the expose section of the Q to tone over time.

I have confidence of this. Note the pocher did not tone? Thats because it was never lacquered. A good helmet for me.

By the way, Dom, the only thing I do find funny is the liner.

IMO, party decal is suspect. Pocher on a Q ??
