An M40 SD Luft-Question on Lot #

If you willl look at this helmet on the E-Stand, you'll notice that the Lot # seems to be raised instead of stamped into the interior of the helmet's surface. Is this usual and normal or is it my feeble imagination and I am missing the obvious???
