    Birmingham Fair (UK)

    Hi guys,

I'm traipsing down from Bonnie Scotland to the Birmingham Fair on Sunday, anyone going?

Meet up and moan about the amount of fake helmets?

Hi Lenny, i am going, like you said we can moan about the fake helmets. I will be taking the digi cam so i hope to take some pics of the duffer helmets. It is so sad that it is one of the largest fairs in the UK but there is so much crap there, i still go hoping to find something. Regimentals will be there, it will be interesting to see what Malcolm has on offer.

        Hi Tim,

I'm driving down from Glasgow in the morning with 2 pals, should be there about 10-11, do you want my mobile number so we can compare notes?

See you are an arist, I'm a professional photographer.

Yes, wonder if Fisher will have that dodgy DD FJ M38 ???

Sounds like a good idea, don't forget to take a picture of Malcolm himself with his super lids

            Cheers

Somehow I don't think that would happen!

I don't go to Militaria Fairs in England anymore as too expensive and too many fakes! Look out for the little bald guy who has a book stall, I think it is called Wiking Books, he always has three or four SS Grave Markers for sale, they're dodgy of course...

Yes it's not good, unfortunately after joining this forum and reading some of the threads I have un-earthed one or two not-quite-so-original items in my collection... which I thought were original. Unfortunately I have been burned once or twice buying from so called "reputable" UK dealers. That guy just sticks out in my mind because I remember seeing him at the Motorcycle Museum last year with these SS grave crosses, then I saw him months later in Beltring with a load all lined up at the back of his marquee tent! He seemed to have a never ending supply and they were all SS!

                        HI Tim,

Obvioulsy I saw this too late, but good we met up anyway!

(Guys, I'm standing at World of warfare, talking to Arthur, asking about Kelly Hicks latest SS book and Tim was there doing the same! Arthur hasn't recieved his supply yet! )

I hung about till closing time and haggled a deal with Tredwyn for that M35 Kriegsmarine, thought it was ok, although chinstrap appears repro!

Over all, not impressive. Laughed at that lufty helmet with concrete finish, you could still smell the cement!

                          I wonder why?

I unfortunatley couldn't make it today...had prior engagement, however I did speak with Sandy last night and he said he was going with you Lenny.....

No doubt he spent up? I saw on another forum a Wehrpaß that used to be his......

I am sure I will get the story tomorrow

                          /Ian
