Gents , I have inspected very close my marked belts and must say that they have the same stamp like on chinstrap / I have two belts dug up personally and no any doubts about originality /
First is marked Stuba SS-T.V. Breslau in the middle with VA 404/38 at the end and second one is marked 1.E.Stuba SS-T.V. Breslau with SS 55/38 RZM close where Breslau is under the runic marking . As you can see the rest of Breslau also under the runic stamp on chinstrap and letters are similar and on the same places where they located on mine belts , pix of mine are below .

I remember that top strap you posted Sturm a long while ago now. Excellent to see others. No doubt its a good strap on this one now in my mind. Congrats again inimicus. Did you outbid the OP?

doug - I was scared zhitless about this thing, i.e., if the strap is bad that puts the whole thing under a very dark cloud. I had to go for it - in this case glad I did! btw it wasn't a bid deal - it was cash-n-trade and I don't know chain of ownership. d

Doug , do you mean the chinstrap from my dug up black SS DD with VA SS 1938 marks which I posted year before ? This is why I love digging - because sometimes you can do small but very interesting and important discoveries
Just must noticed again - my Breslau marked belts not chinstraps but additional belts for non-equipped personal but it does't matter - markings the same like on chinstrap on this m40 and it's real ...Hope some day I will dug up SS helmet with such marked chinstrap

Hi inimicus , looks like you got a very impressive helmet As I think it was cuted from dead or wounded soldier - cuts from pocket knife are well visible on the chinstrap ...

That one I remember as well! But I am sure you posted the top strap a long time ago, like 5-6 years ago, I am sure I've seen the pic before. Maybe you emailed it to me I don't know, but yes your digging you find these nuances and they add a lot to the collecting community!

I can't add much to what's already been said, but definitely it's a real piece with a nicely unit-marked strap. 1 P something Stuba is possibly ' first company, Pioneer Sturmbann, SS-TV' Just a quick guess from what I could see. Others may have already figured out the exact inscription. Nice example of a unit property marked TV helmet!
