Even on my limited knowledge of Rune decals, I wouldn't hold out much hope for this being original.

          Sorry,

            DOH.!!!!

            I thought so..........
Untill i found this forum i just assumed it was the real deal, but after seeing so many bad ones that looked like mine i began to worry........

If this is the case, please be warey if you are bidding on a helmet in the forthcoming Herman Historica auction........Because that is where i bought this one.....in 2000.
i was very much a novice then, regarding helmets........wish i had known then what i know now..........

Oh well, apart from the bad decal it is a very nice '42.

            Goddamit....my fingers are on fire.............

Many thanks for the quick response.

            All the best,
            Steve.

                Steve,

Sorry to hear about that. BTW, you may want to delete that image of your receipt...it has a lot of your personal info (CC, etc.) that you may not want to have in public view.

Try not to feel too bad as I am sure that the majority of the collectors pre-forum membership has had this happen to them. I purchased a DD SS M40 turd for what I thought was a bargain for $950.00 from THURINGEN MILITARIA, and found out months later that it was a piece of sh-t and attempted to get my money back to no avail. The problem is that after finding out that your helmet is crap you're tempted to use it as a flower pot, or not allow it in the presence of known original helmets.

The problem is ,is that everyone wants a SS helmet and they want it NOW ,I have been collecting militaria since the late sixties ,and I dont have an SS helmet ,they all seem to be in collections ,I dont recall many stories where SS helmets have been found at yard sales or from motel buys ,pickers ,estate sales etc,but look at any dealers site and they always have 1 or 2 for sale and a military auction wouldnt be a miltaria auction without an SS helmet or three .The onus is upon the buyer to keep his wallet in his pants and resist the temptation after collecting militaria for 2 years to buy one . As Mr Moto said "softlee softlee catchee monkee " Rob.
God please take justin bieber and gave us dio back
