LBA Markings

It was stated in a thread that went very sour that LBA stamps were not likely applied to Luft. visors. So that we do not give out misinformation it should be clarified that many prewar Luftwaffe visors have LBA markings.

I believe you're referring to my statement in the fake HG visor thread that has disappeared. I said I had never seen an LBA stamp in a visor, and I've had easily 20 over the years. I'm down to two yellow piped, one black piped, one white piped and one blue piped and none have any stamps except the white and yellow ones being unit marked.

Could somebody post a prewar Luft visor that is LBA proofed? I just went through all of mine (not many, but all prewar) and none of them are LBA marked. I wouldn't expect that mark in an item that is usually considered a private purchase item.

I've never seen them in an officer's visor, either (not 100% sure if I've seen them on an EM or not, but don't think so). Have you seen this on an officer's?

The comment was directed to Luftwaffe visor hats; I agree that I've not seen an LBA in an officer's hat. However, this is from an EM visor, named to a member of Fj Rgt.1. These markings are common and I'm surprised that no one else is aware of them.

One of the few surviving pairs side lace jump boots are in a collection of a friend. The boots in his collection are named to the same Fallschirmjäger as this visor.


Thanks Billy! I photographed those Fj helmets, but they are from a good friend's collection; Russ Hamilton. He had the finest helmet collection I have ever seen, and was supposed to have been credited in the books, but I guess it was over looked. He sold most his helmets a few years ago, and they are now spread across the collecting community. Willi now owns one, the heavily brushed Fj camo with the painted around eagle. I now own the Normandie DD. I believe John B. and Chris J. own some of Russ's helmets too. But Russ deserves the credit for accumilating so many fine helmets and caring for them so long.

Thanks, John. That is honestly the first one I've ever seen in a peaked cap. I agree that they shouldn't be found in officer's caps. Never imagined it in enlisted caps, although I have a few unit marked and dating as far back as 1936.
