Im sure i posted this a while back but after having a good look at it this morning, nice how a helmet can keep you entertained for an hour or so, i thought id re-post it . Interesting to me is the repaint its had, i belive it had the two decals either taken off or over painted in a colour with less shine but then it had two decals applied over this second coat, the Adler having been added at an angle, but both being re-laqured.Nice to see the brush strokes to the outer shell , inside was painted up to the liner, some nice touches of the second coat on the single alu liner band and chinstrap bales. This must be a real early re-issue painted lid IMO, having two decals applied over the new coat. Liner band is dated 1937 and has i belive a regimental stamp to the inside, looks like ''II JR 40''. Liner is complete but blood stained, from the condition of the shell if the soldier was wearing it then id say he would be lucky to survive.
Another interesting detail for me and im a bit confused, the tri colour sheild has at the top left hand corner the remains of a silver backing, do tri colours have a silver foil backing?? All comments are welcome as usual, Cheers, Pete.
