M18 Helmet with three tab liner

I am going to pick up a German M18 helmet that acording to the seller was used during ww2 on the Finish front.

I dont know if it is all original or not, so Is there any details I should pay special pay attention to?

I know that the difrences between the Hungarian helmets and the germans but I guess there is other issues that could be important?

I sent the seller these picture and he said that this matches his helmet.

So just to be clear this is NOT his helmet.

    All help is appriciated

Might be a silly question but why don't you have pics of the actual lid? I'd not want to do any deal based on a description alone

Nice if it had a big Skeleton Skull on the front . Sometimes Krad you have to speculate to accumulate if you don't risk anything you end up with nothing , obviously you have to weigh up each situation but sometimes its fun to put your money on the ZERO . Rob

Yes Robb that would be nice but I dont think it has I think the seller would have mentioned it :-)

KradSPam: The seller is an old man that dont have any digital camera he answer an ad I have in the newspaper.
Thats why I am picking it up in person but its a two hour drive so I cant just drive there take some pictures and drive home and post it here.

So I have to take a chance and drive there and If it looks genuine I'll buy it if not I'll leave it.
I have had some luck in the past so I am hoping it will stay with me :-)

        /B

Ahh I see, well I too would have answered the newspaper advert

Good luck I hope it turns out well!

Rob, I agree but it's uncommon in today's information driven world to take a punt like that. It would be cool to chase up an advert like that though, I'm a little jealous of our Swedish friend here

              newspaper ads

It reminds me of the early eighties when i saw a newspaper ad stating "German helmets for sale $20 each" I called the guy for directions and popped over later that evening (1/2 hour drive).
He showed me two SS, a Heer, and a luftwaffe, and with the $20 bill I picked the Luftwaffe.
Yeah, not too bright I know. So I say the 2 hr drive may prove v ery fruitful for you, so go for it and good luck.

Thanks guys! Well hopefully it's going to be a decent helmet you never know getting a description over the phone.

Do you know what a M18 helmets in Finnish paint and liner would fetch on today's market compared to a German?

Where German ww1 helmets ever used by German troops on the Finnish front during ww2,?

                Thanks /Bj******246;rn

Ok the moment of truth.....I feel that I didnt have the time to research this properly befor buying. Anyway here you have it.

If correct this should be a M18 helmet with a Finnish paint job and an ww1 liner.

I am not sure the liner is correct though it doesnt fits the pattern of other white lineres I have looked at

Sorry, the liner system in your helmet is not original WWI German made. The 1st helmet you posted has the original M18 liner system in place. Compare it with yours... you will find the differences. I have no idea who produced the liner in your helmet, but it's most likely a reproduction added post war. The W66 shell is 100% WWI German manufactured.
