Thanks for all the comments and help, guys. There is the first part of a E were the ET64 should be stamped in the metal but it looks like the paint used to refurbish these helmets was pretty thick and flowed into any stamps like when you paint over a screwhead. I only noticed the base of the E by looking closely where you guys directed me to. It was exposed where a little paint had chipped off. I agree the decal has been enhanced in the area of the swastika to show it off more. The decal, itself, does look original to the conversion. The helmet isn't mine yet, the owner wants $1500USD. What do you think about his price. This isn't a known dealer but a closet collector who I've managed to establish a business relationship with. A lot of his stuff hasn't seen the light of day in a long time.

    Thanks again,
    Garth

I had a figure of over $2500 rattling around my head(I'm no expert)....so I would say the price is good.......I suspect it would be snapped up quick at $1500 by members here.....IMO

        Hi,

@Blindpew: Very simply, the decal is handpainted and the lines are not straight enough and not corresponding to originals.

Unfortunately i cant' post any picture, but I have about 8-10 decal pictures M16-M18 on request. The Decals M16-M18 are the same to M35, M40 and M42.

        Regards

Paypal was the easiest way for me...no extra charges there.

You know who we should ask is Thomas Kibbler. He seems to be the authority on Wehr decals. Hey Tom! Look! Up in the sky! The Bat Spot Light is shinning accross the overcast skies of Gotham!

I'm back! Anyway - reviewing the whole thread - I'm in agreement with Darryl. The helmet itself appears correct from the pics. It should be an ET64 - only size & maker for these. The decal DOES look touched up by the black near the top. Still - $1500 is a good price. If you get it - email me. It's in great shape, too. How's the splits at the liner?

I am looking for a cut out. If anyone has a shell suitable for restoration or knows anyone selling one let me know.

                        Hi William,

M18 Cutouts look great and I actually aquired the one in this thread
                        last year.

The decal has been touched up a bit but the paint, liner and chinstrap are in really good condition and look even better in person

Good luck in getting one for yourself.

                        Cheers

                          M18 Ear cut out

Greetings Garth: That is a great looking helmet !!!! With or without a decal, the true value lies in the configuration...that being an M18 ear cut out. A fine example as shown in this thread will be worth in the excess of $2500.00. I especially like the paint and IMO one of the few helmets that look better without a camo paint application. (Camo ,even original, can distract from such a truly unique design)
                          Best Regards!
                          Zeke
