    M18 cutout helmet

Helmets are not my area, so I'm posting views of this M18 for comment. I know this type of helmet is scarce and this one has obviously been converted to use in the TR period. Would be interested in seeing informed comments and any estimates of fair market value.
    Thanks for looking,
    Garth

Looks fine on the outside. It should be marked ET64.

              Cody,
Thanks for your reply. I'm a helmet dummy so were should the ET64 mark be and what does it mean. Regards,
              Garth

There should be a stamp on the left hand inside nape, almost directly in line with the air-vent, 3" down,(approx). There may also be a stamp to the inside of the crown, more or less in the centre. The 64 will be the shell size.....which is what it is.The lugs of the air-vents dictate tht.

I may be wrong as I have never examined a cut-out and the markings may be different.I hope i've been of some help.
For a "dummy", you have yourself a top helmet! I wish I could afford it.....I couldn't give you a value I'm afraid though...I'm sure it's more than I have just now in my helmet fund!

                  Garth,

The ET64 maker-mark should be stamped into the front-left ear-guard in front of the cut-out. It may look like this... E.T.64. Also, upon closer examination it appears the decal may have been 'brought out' as it certainly looks diddled-with. Something unwanted is going on with the decal.

I believe the decal has been enhanced by touching up the chipped areas. I doesn't appear that there is too much left of the original decal...unfortunately. However, this sort of thing happened and is probably the result of poor initial application. Still a very nice example in my opinion.

                      Hi

                      Helmet looks good IMO,
but I have to say I don't like that decal very much, I could be wrong of course but I can't remember seeing a decal that is faided in that way.
                      Cheers
                      Nick

the decal is definitively and 100% a fake. Sorry.

                              Welcome to the forum

Any chance of you saying why it's a fake?...making statements like that and not explaining why, doesn't go down well here.......
