With all due respect, I prefer to see a decal blend in nicely with the background of the helmet....My eyes aren't seeing the kind of blending I like to see...appears to be floating on the surface of the shell, not worn into it with age...just my opinion....

Its pretty common to see decals that look like that.
Sometimes when they were applied to the rough paint they did not adhere well.
Evident of how the decal flaked off in large chunks. I have seen this numerous times on re-issues and rough painted helmets

The photo of the decal Tom posted is better than the first one. Like I mentioned I think that decal is a fine.

      Just my opinion though.

Matt, I know exactly what you're talking about...I have an original M42 SD waffen ss helmet that has rough textured paint...The decal has lifted minimally in spots...The only big difference is mine exhibits discoloration in the silver area from aging...Partly from the laquer coating and partly from the bleeding thru from the shell...Something that is lacking on this KM helmet...aging and discoloration...

          Layers or No Layers?

I'm a little puzzled. I thought all KM decals were supposed to be layered. Gold layer over silver eagle. Was that only one decal manufacturer that did that, because now I'm seeing lots of KM decals that are supposed to be authentic, but not layered.

                Andy

If you decide you do not want the helmet, let me know I will buy it.
