Hi guys,
recently got this helmet from the neighbour of the Wehrmacht soldier who owned this helmt untill the end of his life in 2012. As it is rare to find such pieces in original condition I wanted to show it to you.
The young soldier was injured at the battle of Aisne channel in 1940 - but he survived - the helmet safed his life. He came to hospital and did not come back to germany army during WW2. The ex soldier painted the helmet at the front to remember this event - his "second birthday".
Paint is still 90% or more present - also the decals. the chsinstrap is marked, the helmet is marked 662 at the inner back and Q60. A ink stamp 2N 70 II. The soldiers name + unit is sewn into the inner side of liner. Liner is damaged at the back where he was hit. This iron piece whih hit him and produced the damage also damaged the helmet a little at the upper rigth inside - it is a dent visible. Overall good condition, original untouched since he had painted it at the front.
As I am no WW2 helmet collector I will list it soon at the e-stand.
