this helmet comes straight from an attick in Poperinge (Belgium ,West Flanders)
the owner oiled it to preserve it
the helmet was left behind from the soldiers who lived in his parents house in 1940-1944 ,there is a name written in the neckguard : Anton Beck

Still looks like a repro. strap.....should be clearly marked which would end the discussion (on the tip end)....

NEVER believe the Story....only the item (no matter what). The rest looks original, too bad the decal is only 50/50.....but you "take um as they come!"

there is a very faint mark at the tip of the strap ,i almost can't read it any more .
                    i see a letter "q" and also a number "4" .
i was so exited when i got the helmet that i did not took a good look at the strap .
the old man even never noticed the name in the neckguard ,i saw it and showed him . after he put on his glasses and went outside in the sunlight he could read it a bit ! so i realy don't think he wanted to sell me something bad... the helmet was the only military item in his home and i am convinced that he owned it his whole life . a realy can't say more than the things he told me... but at the end of this i am very glad it is in my collection now . if the strap turns out no good ,i have to replace it with another one ,no problem at all .
                    greetings Jo.
