    Luft M35 With Wire

I believe this is an original helmet. I do have concerns about the wire. Is it original to the helmet or a recent addition? Your help is greatly appreciated.

I agree the helmet looks original....From the pictures, I cannot say either way whether/not the wire is original....It's doubtful someone would add the wire to increase its value...It's already a DD Luftwaffe in battle condition...If the helmet could be obtained at a reasonable price,it appears the wire could maybe be removed if you didn't like it...just my opinion...

My Gut Feeling Is That It Is Post War Wire.

Its Too Clean To Be 60years Old And Been Used In Battle.helmet Decal Looks" Good "though!james/ireland

Joe, where does this one come from? The wire is a tough call, but may very well be original to the helmet. It would take a closer inspection

not a helmet specialist, but most of you guys think to narrow, at least in my opiion.
I'm not stating that there is not much fakes, but that a helmet like this could have been worn quite long in battle before the actual wire was applied, then lets say that the soldier dies and the helmet is picked up by a farmer or enemy, then the wire is almost new and the helmet very worn.
I remember during my own service that we modified a lot, especially the helmets.

The helmet looks right, would be good to see some close ups of where the wire is attached to the helmet. Tim.

The heavy bailing wire certainly looks correctly aged. What might be in question is why there is not more of a reaction on the surface to the wire.
I have a dd luft m35 that has heavy bailing wire attached and the surface
shows rust and flaking under the wire. It also has the smooth blue-gray luft finish. The helmet I have was gotten from a reputable dealer so I have no doubts about it's authenticity. But all helmets do not act the same. Looks like a hold in hand opinion situation.

I appreciate everybody's comments. This one is a tough call without a hands on inspection. Andy, I sent you a PM.
