    Brown DAK Heer helmet

    Hello all,

Veteran's wife says he shipped this from Africa. He was from 1st Armored Division, 701st Tank Destroyer Battalion. Any opinions on this brown one?

An EF 42 with such batch number wouldn't match with Africa campaign.

Excellent, thank you for letting me know. I'm just repeating what I have been told and that is the basic proof I wanted to know for sure.

its always funny the stories people tell. Most of the time a bunch of bs. always go with what you can prove.

I don't think it was bs...

I don't think we can expect an 80+ year old woman to remember the exact place her sweatheart sent home an item 60+ years ago.

Although I have seen evidence of M42s used in Africa, and brown would be an acceptable color for a North African camo (IMHO), as Fred mentioned...the lot number is an issue.

What's the date of the liner band? That will prove one way or another...
