info on my first helmet

Hi everyone,

This is my first post in the Helmet forum, i got myself a nice M42 helmet NS62 lot number D228 or could be 0228?.It is post war Czech painted black, i wonder if there is anyone who can help me what this helmet might have been before refurb,Luftwaffe, Heer etc from the lot number?

Hi, and welcome to this corner of the forum. Lot numbers are not always spot on with this kind of ID, but I think yours was most likely a Heer lid.

Hi,
Great, thanks for the information thats excellent, so most likly a Heer helmet then, cool, well i am just in process of stripping the ugly black paint off it, and i am going to resore it to its former glory
