I just acquired this Single Decal Hkp64 m42 Helmet. Batch number 213. I have some concerns and questions. I know the liner is fake. The band is original. I am not sure about the Heer decal as it has some sheen as if covered in coat of lacquer, not fully evident in photos but in person in light the shine is evident. Hoping to hear some feedback on the decal regarding originality and style. My next big question is in regard to the 2nd decal outline/remnants on left side of helmet. I know DD m42 is unheard of. It looks like remnants of a Heer bird to me, but might be some other kind of decal? I am grateful for Any comments/opinions and help on this. The rivets seem to look a bit different then rest of paint finish.

The original liner was removed by a friend, it was torn to shreds. He replaced the liner. As for the finish being a repaint, I'm not seeing it. I feel the paint is original to the helmet. How do you know it is a repaint and how can you tell that the decal is fake?Comment

It looks to me like the paint is attempting to replicate an original Apple green finish found on m35,s.Wrong paint for an m42.
Also devoid of any texture consistent with the finish found on an M42.
Id say repaint.
Id say the person who repainted it got their periods of helmet colors mixed up.Comment

I agree with "Deathshead". For an M42 shell, this is the wrong paint and the wrong decal. It was all "redone" postwar. Not a collectors item.Comment
