Luft Helmet/cast alum

OK, didn't have my camera with me(I'm bumming), but has anyone ever seen a cast aluminum helmet. It has DD luft. The liner is strange. It's been in the same hands for fifteen years. He's shown it around and virtually got no ideas as of yet. Some guess made for a movie, but I sure wouldn't want to be wearing it around, it's downright heavy.

I know some of you helmet guys have done in depth research and wondered if anyone had ever read about or seen something like it.

Does it have a thicker than normal shell and strange raised areas around and under the ventholes? There are two like what I described near here and I had never seen any like them before.

I didn't notice the vent holes much, but yes it had a very thick shell.

If you can, please take some pics of it next time you are there. I am curious to see if it is the same type I saw. The ones I saw had really ragged edges and the shell was 2 to 3 times as thick as a normal helmet. They also had a triangular raised area around the vent holes. Whatever they are they are strange looking.

Here is one I found on Ebay that looks just like the ones I described. Notice the thick rim and raised area around the vent. Is this the same type you saw too?

not that I'm an expert, but the decal doesn't look layered?

looks like some postwar helmet for special industrial purpose - like mines... etc..
decals are fakes IMHO

I've never seen a liner like that before, the vents are new to me too..
