Looks like a fire brigade helmet, the one in Baers book was an SS fire brigade.

I guess i am just wondering if it is WW2 era , pre war ,post war it is almost an apple green maybe a little darker, i found that kind of strange also no maker mark stamped in helmet or size stamped in metal?

I collect FWs but have not seen one quite like this & it is not in Baer Vol. 3 or Marzetti. I've never seen one with side flaps.

I would guess it to be 3rd Reich era as some FW/civil types from that time used by various organisations are also green.

Baer Vol.3 pg. 45 shows a different type also in green, but if this color is explained in the text my German isn't good enough to read it! Maybe a Heer FW?

As a footnote, Baer 3 pg. 54 pictures a very unusual light colored (b&w period photo) FW that's visorless, similar to the Turkish M-18.

Atcase `thanks for helping me on ID`ing this helmet the flaps are sewn in directly to liner .Flaps are black and marked Ziegler Ges Gesch. The chin strap`s are attached with three small rivits on right ear flap and four on left . The liner rivits are tight to helmet , the liner is brown alot like the civic type with cork spacers. I have been collecting a number of years and really have not been stumped for a while, this is one helmet i have just always wondered about as their are no marking`s stamps on metal of helmet.
