      Ty,
I'll ask him if he would mind. He's doesn't like to show his stuff off ?? But I saw it last night and I loved it I'll have to get back to you on that one.

I'm sorry, but I have "concerns" with this camo....the wear patterns really bothers me, and so does the overall camo paint. I have been seeing a number of camos with the same issues surfacing in England recently. Is your friend's SS camo coming from the same source? Only trying to help........

I'm with Willi ,..paint looks like the normal "house" paint we use nowadays and the wear is rather artificial IMO..

I think this was one of the helmets he got some time ago in either France or Belgium. Other than that I don't know.

                Hi Willi,
I don't know if he has got the other helmet from the same guy, but this is from across the channel. What is it you don't like in particular about the paint?

                    Thanks Perry,
As you know I'm very new to this and I'm on a very steep learning curve at the moment
I'll get in touch with him.

Hi Irv, look at the "wear" to the helmet overall. It appears to have been gone over with wire wool or fine emery cloth. Now look at the crown. The scratches do not look natural. All soldiers will throw their helmets to the ground, sit on them, etc, etc, this will give a pattern of wear that can be seen time and time again.

                      I too would return it.

                      Cheers, Ade.

Didn't ROBB have one just like this? Almost identical I think. These fakers are artist, still love the colors.

Yes, the scratches on top would put me off more than just the camo..
                          Looks too much artificial

If you are looking in Robb can you post the picture of the one that Ty thinks is very similar.

                              Hi Ade,
This a general question and not just to you, and remembering that I am only using a bit of logic. But if I was going to fake a helmet in these colours as well as this is done, I would have obviously have done my homework OK....So why would I not throw the thing about a bit and sit on it in the gravel, scuff the outside and grind the top into the dirt to age it?? If I was faking this I would make sure it looked like it had been around for the last 60 years.
Why paint a nice original 42pattern with a fake camo and not complete the job to get to the point were everyone who saw it would have no doubt that it was right? I think some of you know my bag is FS knives. I have original knives that you would have thought were made yesterday but they are over 60 years old, and that includes the scabbard.
Like I said, I have a lack of knowledge and this is only me thinking it through using a bit of logic. Like someone once said to me, "Never say never"!

..the thing that really clouds the authentication of this helmet is that it appears to have been very aggressively cleaned, inside and out. The oxidation and dust build up looks right between the liner and shell, but the rest of the shell has a "scrubbed" look. Also, the liner is unnatural, like it has been oiled up
