Odd Cap Insignia

Hi all............

I assume this combination of cap insignia was quite rare, but does anyone have any idea how it would come about.
I seem to remember seeing a photo of Kurt Meyer with the same insignia, unable to find it though.

The ss utilised army insignia when the correct ss insignia wasnt available.You will also see heer breast eagles used as sleeve eagles.

I have a picture of a ss mountain troop officer using a heer edelweiss sleeve patch instead of the ss type.

Hi Robb,
As far as i know this is a war-tme portrate of Obersturmfuhrer Geog Preuss. He was awarded the Knights Cross for his leadership of 10 Company, SS-Panzergrenadier Regiment 2, Liebstandarte Division during the Ardennes offensive.
