I have always had a soft spot for German helmets with a US veteran link. This one spells out one soldiers entire war journeys from his training camp in the USA until the end of the war. I am hoping to be able to identify the unit with which the US veteran served based on the inscriptions but I think it will be impossible to ID the exact veteran. The helmet itself is a late war M42 with a pig skin liner. it looks to me as if the veteran stored the helmet poorly after the war as there is a lot of surface rust and the liner and chinstrap are rather dry. Here are some pictures.
